South Brunswick Township is located in the Middlesex County, New Jersey. The name of the city was first referred on 1779 in Freeholder minutes as being formed from New Brunswick Township. South Brunswick was incorporated on 1798. With a population over 37 000 inhabitants South Brunswick has a very developed industry and commerce. South Brunswick is located along the Route 1 corridor between Princeton and New Brunswick, making the city a key location for a lot of hi- tech companies.
South Brunswick benefits from over 2 000 acres of municipal, county and state park land. To attract more tourists and to improve the quality of life of the community the Mayor has decided to continue to buy more outdoor green spaces.
The main tourist attractions in South Brunswick include a Community Center situated at Woodlot Park on New Road and a Senior Center located near the Municipal Building on Route 522. In South Brunswick there are also a lot of movie theatres and art centers. On Deans Rhode Hall Road can also be found Pigeon Swamp State Park of over 1 000 acres.
A few notable residents have lived in South Brunswick including: Donald Fagen (1948-), a musician and songwriter, best known as the co-founder of the rock band Steely Dan, George Segal (1924-2000), painter and sculptor associated with the Pop Art movement and DeForest Soaries (1951-), pastor and former chairman of the Election Assistance Commission.
